THE STATE OF LOVE LANE

In the Court of View of Frank Pledge for the Town and Borough of Carnarvon in the County of Carnarvon

Instructions to Draw Presentments

From time immemorial there has been within the liberties of the said Town and Borough of Carnarvon and within the Jurisdiction of the Court of View of Frank Pledge of the said Town and Borough, an ancient Public path or footway, which was generally known by the name of Love Lane or Love lane path, passing along the side of a Hill on the out side of the fence of a field belonging to The Right Honble Thomas John Lord Newborough of Glynllivon in the said County but who has a House or residence or (...?...) (...?...) (...?...) the further lane left (...?...) called The Tower House in the said Town and Borough The Tower House in Town & Borough The said Footway (...?...) into The Public High leading from Carnarvon to Pwllheli and other places (...?...) in the said County of Carnarvon near a place called Henwalia The other end thereof being in the Town of Carnarvon both ends as well as the whole line being within the Jurisdiction of this Court about Two years ago The said Lord Newborough and Mr. George Bettiss his agent who is (...?...) of the (...?...) & it (...?...) (...?...) to Cut and carry away the side of the sd Hill and they have cut and carried away the earth & Rock forming the side of the Hill and also made several Cuts and Excavations into the and across the path and that by reason thereof and of the Drifting of the earth in consequence of such excavations That the path is now absoultely destroyed and rendered unpassable - It was intended to have presented It last year but it was not then quite so bad as it is now and Mr. Bettiss Lord Newboroughs agent being one of the Bailiffs of the Borough It was thought prudent to have it presented last year But as The applications to to repair the path have by his Lordship & the said George Bettiss treated with indifference It is now determined to present (...?...) (...?...) of (...?...) Lord Newbro & if (...?...) Mr Bettiss also for continuing such Cuts, Holes and excavations by which means the said path cannot be restored without an (...?...) of from 150 to 200 It is desirable in the first instance to lay a small fine upon his Lordship for what he has done and an order upon pain upon him to repair and amend the path & to fill up the Cuts Holes and excavations within 2 or 3 months under pain of 300L

you will therefore be pleased to prepare a proper presentment
