PRESENTMENT OF NUISANCES

Sworn to inquire Between our Sovereign Lord the King and the Body of the said Borough

And The Jurors afrd upon their Oath afrd present & say That (......) of Tanybont in the said Borough heretofore and since the 15 day of Janry in the 8 year of the Reign of That our said Lord the King hath placed a certain Dunghill since which day no Court of View of Frank Pledge hath been holden in and for the said Borough That hath erected and Still doth Continue a certain Pigstie over and agit her House near the Kings High in the sd Street called Tanybont Street to wit on the 28th day of January in the 8 year of the Reign of our said Lord the King at Tanybont in the Borough afrd and within the Jurisdiction of this Court, with force & arms & so forth did wrongfully and wilfully did keep and Continue a certain Pigstie before then wrongfully and wilfully erected & (...?...)

The sd Street Being the Kings Highway situate in the Town & Borough afrd and within the Jurisdiction afrd and hath kept and maintained a certain Pig in the sd Pigstie To the Common Nuisance of the Sd Liege Subjects of our Said Lord the King Therefore he is amerced 1/- and It is commanded to him that he do remove the Pigstie & (...?>..) (...?...) to keep the sd Pig in same before the (......) day of January next upon pain of 5/-

Sworn to inquire Between our Sovereign the King and the Body of the said Borough And The Jurors afrd upon their Oath afrd furr present & say That from the time whereof the memory of man is not to the Contrary the liege Subjects of our said Lord the King had and lawfully used a certain Common Highway in the Town and Borough afrd and within the Jurisdiction of this Court there & within the Jurisdiction afrd leading from a certain Street there and within the Jurisdiction afrd called Tanybont Street the same (...?...) Being the Kings Common Highway to a certain other Street there and within the Jurisdiction afrd called Bont Bridd the said last mentioned Street being the Kings Common Highway for (...?...) & their goods without any Stoppage or Hindrance by any Houses Ditches or other obstacles whatever (...?...) one William Roberts Bont Bridd in the sd Borough Currier Heretofore & since the and Town & Borough afrd and within the Jurisdiction afrd on the day of (......) in the 8 year of the Reign

Since which day no Court of View of Frankpledge hath been Holden in & for the said Borough to wit on the 28 day of January in the 8 year of our Lord the King with force & arms within The Reign of our Lord the King to wit at Bontbridd in the Borough Town & Borough afrd & within the Jurisdiction afrd in the place there called Bont Bridd upon the Common Highway afrd a certain dwelling house did make and the said dwelling house (...?...) (...?...) afrd made doth (...?...) Continue & keep to the wrongfully & (...?...) wilfully keep & Continue a certain dwellinghouse before their (...?...) by him (...?...) erected and built to Great Stoppage & Hindrance of the Liege Subjects of our Said Lord the King passing in & through the sd Common Highway and agit the peace of our sd Lord the King his Crown & dignity Therefore he is amerced 5/- and It is commanded to him to That he do remove the same before the (......) day of January next upon Pain of £

Sworn to inquire Between Our Sovereign & the Body of the sd Borough And The Jurors afrd upon their Oath afrd furr present & Francis Evans of Blackboy Street in the said Borough Victualler Say That Owen Williams of Love Lane in the sd Town & Borough of Carnarvon heretofore and since the 15 day of January in the 8 year of the Reign of our Lord the now King since which day no Court of View of Frankpledge afrd and within the Jurisdiction afrd mariner on the hath been Holden in and for the said Borough to wit on the 28 day of Jany in the 8 year of the Reign of our Lord the now King at Love Lane in the Borough afrd and within the Jurisdiction of this Court with force and arms and so forth did wrongfully & wilfully keep & Continue divers to wit Two Cart Loads of Rubbish before their wrongfully & wilfully put and placed in & upon a certain Common Public Highway called Love Lane situate in the Borough afrd & within the Jurisdiction of this Court and on (..?...) this day (...?...) That (...?...) or with before as aforesaid with force & arms (...?...) The Borough afrd and within the Jurisdiction afrd in and upon the Kings Common Highway Called Love Lane There and within the Jurisdiction afrd leading from a Certain place there and within the Jurisdiction afrd called Maesglas to a Certain other place there and within the Jurisdiction afrd called Henwalia Two Cart Loads of Rubbish hath put & placed and Caused to be placed and the same Rubbish from the (......) day of (......) afrd in the year afrd until the day of the taking of this Inquisition in and upon the sd Kings Common Highway afrd to be (...?...) has permitted & still doth permit By reason whereof the sd Highway for the whole time afrd was Shortened and obstructed so By reason whereof the sd Highway was & is shortened and obstructed so that the Liege Subjects of our Said Lord the King could not & cannot so freely pass and repass about about their lawful business through the said Common Highway there & within the Jurisdiction afrd as they ought to ought & have been accustomed Therefore he the said Owen Williams is amerced 2/6 And It is Commanded to him the said Owen Williams That he do remove the said Rubbish from off the sd Highway before the (......) day of (......) January next Coming upon Pain of 10/-

And the Jurors afrd upon their Oath afrd furr present & Say That from the time whereof the memory of man is not to the Contrary The Liege Subjects of our Said Lord the King had & lawfully used a certain Common Highway in the Borough afrd and within the Jurisdiction of this Court (...?...) called Love Lane leading from a Certain place there & within the Jurisdiction afrd Called Maesglas to a certain other place there and within the Jurisdiction afrd Called Henwalia to (...?...) their goods without Stoppage or Hindrance by any ditches Hedges Cuts excavations Holes or other obstacles whatever Present (...?...) one X (......) of the Borough of Carnarvon afrd and within the Jurisdiction afrd labourer on (......) day (......) of

(Margin Note: X: It is intended to present one of the workmen who was employed in destroying the path Lord Newboro was the person by whose directions the nuisance was committed But he does not reside within the Borough. Will It be proper to present one of the workmen & It should be proper to present the workman It would be desirable & proper to present 3 or 4 & In case you should Think it Right please so to frame this present)

(......) in the X (......) year of the Reign of our Lord the now King at Love Lane afrd in the Town & Borough afrd & within the Jurisdiction afrd in the place afrd called Love Lane in & upon the Common Highway afrd (...?...) Certain Cuts Ditches Cuts Excavations & Holes did make & cause to be made & the said Cuts excavations & Holes so as afrd made Doth yet Continue & keep to the Great damage Danger Stoppage & Hindrance of the Liege Subjects of our Said Lord the King passing in & through the said Common Highway & agit the peace of our sd Lord the King Therefore he is amerced 20/- And It is Commanded to him that he make up & fill the sd Cuts excavations & Holes so made by him the sd (......) in the sd Highway before the (......) day of (......) next upon pain of £20

(Margin Note: X The path has been destroyed about 2 years ago & It still continues in the most dangerous state possible, & no person can go along It without being in danger of his life - Since the above note was written The whole of the Path in consequence of the excavation made under it has fallen down & It is impossible to go along it)

And The Jurors afrd upon their Oath further present & say That Griffith Griffith of the Borough afrd & within the Jurisdiction afrd Tanner on the (......) day of (......) he did The 8 year of the Reign of our Lord the now King & on divers other days & times or will before or afterwards with force & arms at the Borough afrd & within the Jurisdiction afrd near a Certain Street there & within the Jurisdiction afrd called Crown Street the said Street being the Kings Common Highway and wrongfully & wilfully keep and continue & cause to be kept & Continued a certain Slaughterhouse before then wrongfully & wilfully erected & made built a certain Slaughter house did (...?...) & continue & cause to be (...?..) & continued & a great quantity of Blood Dung & other filth from the said Slaughter House there & within the Jurisdiction afrd did wrongfully & wilfully present & suffer & still doth present & suffer to run unto & upon the sd Kings Common Highway By reason whereof divers hurtful & unwholesome Smells from the sd Blood Dung & other filth did then & there arise and thereby the air there & within the Jurisdiction afrd became & was & is corrupted & infected To the Great danger & Common Nuisance of all the liege Subjects of our said Lord the King passing repassing in & along the sd Highway or dwelling & Inhabiting near to the same and against the peace of our said (......) To the (...?...) (...?...) of all others in The like Case ofending and agit the Peace of our Sd Lord the King his Crown & dignity Therefore the sd Griffith Griffith is amerced 5/- and It is Commanded to him to that he abate & discontinue the said Nuisance before the (......) day of (......) next (...?...) upon pain of 5£
