PRESENTMENT OF NUISANCES
1829

The Jurors of our Lord the King who have been this day chosen by the Deputy Mayor Bailiffs and the Free Burgesses of the Town and Liberties of Caernarvon at a Meeting held at the Guild Hall on Tuesday the twenty seventh day of October 1829. do on their Oath present the following Encroachments and Nuisances within the Town and Liberties aforesaid.

1

To enquire of the Recorder whether the Property now enclosed in the upper part of Pool street by the Pump or Well belongs to Mr. Smith, or the Borough, and if an answer was made to the same enquiry of 1820.

2

To enquire if the piece of Ground above the Tithe Barn now enclosing by Mr. Smith is ascertained to be his private Property, or the Corporation, as enquired by the presentment of 1820.

3

To recommend to the Proprietors of the Houses on Love Lane to cover the Gutter on the south side of New Street leading across Love Lane and secure the Precipiece opposite their Houses.

4

To enquire if the Owners of the Timber lying on the Green pay Rent to the Corporation and if not that they should pay a Nominal Rent.

5

To recommend to the Corporation to form a Covered Drain for conveying the Water across the road at the end of Hole in the Wall Street near the Nail Shop.

6

That the Cellars belonging to the New Houses of James Williams in Pool Street are not only an encroachment, but dangerous to his Majesty's liege Subjects.

7

To recommend to the Deputy Mayor and Bailiffs to adopt such Measures as they may think proper for enclosing Morfa Seiont.

8

That the steps going down to the Street at the Gable end of the Bull's head leading towards the Crown are much out of Repair and ought to be amended.

It is strongly recommended that the Scavengers be Ordered to Keep the Streets clean in every part of the Town as it is conceived they do not do their Duty.

We the Jurors chosen sworn and elected to examine into the Encroachments Right and Liberties of the Town and Borough of Carnarvon have this ninth day of November 1829 carefully examined the different Items in this presentment and do approve of the same as Witness our hands hereunto.
