PRESENTMENTS OF NUISANCES 1786 - 1832
The following are transcripts of the Presentments of Nuisances for the Town of Carnarvon. They give an idea of how the Inspectors of Nuisances, (the forerunners of the Public Health Inspectors), operated, as well as giving an insight into how the Town looked, smelled, and functioned at the time.
Another role of the Inspectors (also known as Jurors) was to report on Weights & Measures, Carriage Charges, and other various Corporation business. They do not indicate whether the recommendations contained in them were actually carried out.
All the presentments included here are part of the Carnarvon Borough records, which are in Gwynedd Archives Service Class Mark XD1. There are further, earlier, surviving presentments available which will form the basis of a separate section. 4 undated documents also form part of this series and will be included here.
Where there is more than one document for any year, the main presentment will be shown first, with any secondary documents following in reference order.
Any word which is uncertain is shown thus (...?...)
Any gaps in the original document will be shown thus (......)
